Silhouette Thank You Note

I made this Thank You Note using the library card and 3D flower (daisy) cuts on my Silhouette. I cut the library card twice, one on each of the different purples, and assembled with glue dots. I cut the 3D flower out on Yellow Chevron Paper, and used the two middle sizes to decorate the envelope. I adhered the daisy cut together and to the envelope with glue dots.

I decided I wanted to use my Silhouette to also write on the card using the sketch pen function.

I "ungrouped" the card and envelope and copied the card onto a new document. Placing it where I wanted in on my grid, I added the text. Sending to the Silhouette, it sketched the words "Thank You" onto the uppermost part of the card.

After compiled, it was still missing something.

I added a bit of silver glitter puff pain tot he middle of the Daisy.

A great note ready to write on and be sent!

Heart Garland

I'm attempting to decorate for Valentine's Day and really wanted to make a garland for our fireplace. I really liked the idea of the flutter hearts presented by Silhouette, but instead made the hearts three dimensional.


First, I duplicated the heart pattern six times on the Silhouette software. You don't need a silhouette to do this project! It can also be done by cutting numerous of the same shaped heart!

And cut onto my desired paper.

Using Mod Podge, I made the hearts three dimensional by adhering  a set of three together. And repeat. The string will go in between the two sets.

And repeat. I let them dry overnight.

Using hot glue, I lined up the hearts and glued the string between the two sets. Be sure to glue the string at the top of the heart, otherwise the hearts will hang up side down!

All in all, a cute garland to decorate for Valentine's Day!

Framed Lyrics

Bryan got me a Silhouette Portrait for Christmas, and to say that I am extremely excited about this present is an understatement! Is it too soon to begin decorating for Valentine's Day? Either way, I am in love with the Lumineers' song, "Ho Hey" at the moment.

I started with a 5' x 7' frame from IKEA. I took out the matting to allow for extra space.

Using the frame dimensions, I wrote in the lyrics within the Silhouette software.

I cut the paper down to the frame dimensions using a paper cutter. I really liked the negative space the letters created. I originally was going to do something with the cut letters until it was cut. I backed the purple paper with yellow to add contrast.

I'm sure as Valentine's Day approaches, hearts and glitter may be added, but for now I love the simplicity of this craft!
